Manuscript on paper, in a single hand, of two journals filled with religious and personal meditations. One entry, dated 19 Oct. 1690, states that "This day Dr. Sherlocke preached at St. Dunstans, being the Thanksgiving Day for King Williams Victory & Success...about 3 Months since, he tolde me, If He had taken the Oathes (meaning the Oaths of Allegiance to King Wm. & Queen Mary) He should have hanged himself...But I perceive he has now taken the Oathes." Other entries meditate upon the Lord's Supper, Good Friday, and other religious subjects. The author gives birth information concerning himself: "born the 25th September 1652: at Astley House, neare Coventry in Warwickshire." Elsewhere, he describes and gives thanks for his escapes from a burning house and from a "great storm"; and on 7 March 1689, he notes, "I saw this night a verry remarkeable Circle, round the Moone."
